Just a quick entry for right now... Still need to read the next part of Song of Roland for Tuesday, but it has my interest. In class we talked about how many different symbols for Christianity were included in the Song of Roland. One of the examples that I remembered was how the numbers 3 and 12 seem to show up a lot (Charlemagne's 12), and also how the the Christians would die a heroic death and be delivered straight to heaven while the Saracens would die brutally and be dragged off to Hell by demons.
While reading our next portion of the book for Tuesday we were advised to pay attention to how each person died, so I will look forward to doing that and adding more to my blog once I have something new to write about.
Until then.

Midterms Returned and Other Stuff
I'm very satisfied with my grade on my midterms!! I just wish I had done better on my essay about the internal conflict of the Iliad (which is weird because I thought I would do best on that one). Perhaps I strayed too far from the subject by talking too much about Hector and his family, but oh well! I was just pleased that I put a full page response for each question and got an A on it ;)
Now we've started talking a lot about Christianity and God, which I personally think is cool since I'm a believer. I've never really studied how Christianity developed in Rome, so it's really fascinating. I do recall a friend telling me about a series of books she was reading called the "Mark of Lion" series, and I believe they take place in Rome and of course have something to do with Christians being thrown into the pits to be mauled by lions and such, like we talked about in class. I'm interested to learn more!
P.S. Thank goodness we're not being penalized by not blogging over break! And I love the fact that every now and then we cancel class to enjoy the nice weather :) but, of course it only gives me an extra half hour or so before I go to work... It's still nice though!

Overdue?
Ok, so I really have no excuse to be this late on my post. Truth is, I spent all Saturday out of town and didn't even think twice about my blog. And now I'm a couple days late in catching up. But even if I had remembered to post, I wouldn't have had anything to talk about... So yeah.... I don't know. I can't remember how much this is going to screw up my grade, but I hope it's not too much, since the reason I missed was simply because I was not in the mindset of school. We'll see, I guess.
Class is today. I think we might get our midterms back. I hope I at least did alright on those.... :/

Midterm Break
Midterms went better than I thought they would! Luckily the three essay questions on the test were the ones that I were best prepared to answer, so I had little trouble writing a whole page for all of them.... I just hope I did alright.... I guess I'll find out! I think the question about whether the Iliad was more about internal or external conflict was the easiest. There was so much internal conflict!! And we only read a few books from it, too! I can't imagine how much more we would have encountered if we had read the whole thing...
Due to boredom and complete lack of exciting happenings during the next 10 or so days, I think I'll start reading Song of Roland or Dante's Inferno just to get ahead... Hey, I thought it was a good idea!
Yeah, not really much to talk about since I don't know how I did on my midterms.... Maybe I'll post in a couple days once I've read something.... Yeah, sounds good.
